Manifestaciones clínicas y electrorretinográficas en un caso de síndrome de Usher tipo 1

Resumen

Introducción: La pérdida de algunos de los sentidos es una condición grave para cualquiera de las actividades cotidianas; sin embargo, cuando se asocia la disminución global de más de un sentido, se hace referencia al síndrome de Usher.

Objetivo: Exponer las manifestaciones clínicas y del electrorretinograma en un caso de síndrome de Usher tipo 1.

Presentación de caso: Se presentó en la consulta una paciente femenina de 21 años, de piel blanca, traída por un familiar al Centro Oftalmológico Hospital General Docente “Enrique Cabrera”, debido a la dificultad de poder ver correctamente con ambos ojos. La maestra de la educación especial, en la escuela de sordomudos, comentó la dificultad que la paciente poseía en la motricidad fina, al no poder tomar los objetos de manera eficiente, y agregó que el coeficiente intelectual de la paciente era acorde con su edad, así que solicitó una valoración visual integral.

Conclusiones: La paciente presenta un síndrome de Usher tipo 1, lo cual se manifiesta en el electrorretinograma fotópico y escotópico realizado. Las alteraciones en las electrorretinigráficas anteceden a las visuales, de ahí su importancia en el diagnóstico temprano de la degeneración retiniana.
