Scheimpflug Sirius Topotomographer with Images for the Study of the Anterior Segment
Keywords:
Scheimpflug Sirius topotomographer with images, digital visualization, anterior segment.Abstract
Introduction: Digital visualization of the anterior segment of the eye is becoming increasingly important. For this purpose, several pieces of equipment have been designed to determine measurements and systematic evaluations of great usefulness in clinical and surgical performance, as well as very important in ophthalmology. The Sirius Scheimpflug topotomographer with images allows an anterior segment analysis system that combines corneal topography with Placido rings and anterior segment tomography with Scheimpflug 3D rotating camera.
Objective: To describe the usefulness of the Sirius topotomographer for the study of the anterior segment.
Methods: A search for updated information was conducted, regarding the use and principles of this equipment’s operation. Of the 50 found sources, 37 were selected; while, according to the inclusion criteria, full articles, original articles, bibliographic reviews and case presentations were taken into account. The information databases SciELO, Medscape, Elsevier, Google Scholar, Research and PubMed were used, in their English and Spanish versions.
Conclusions: The Scheimpflug Sirius topotomographer with images is a useful tool for ophthalmologists. The provided data will allow the diagnosis and follow-up of various anterior segment diseases with greater precision, which will contribute to improving the methods and procedures providing the patient with better visual outcomes.
