Teleconsulta y telediagnóstico a pacientes con afecciones anales y colorrectales durante la pandemia de COVID-19

Introducción: La telemedicina fue una alternativa efectiva durante la pandemia de COVID-19.
Objetivo: Evaluar la efectividad de la teleconsulta en los pacientes con afecciones anales y colorrectales durante la pandemia de COVID-19.
Métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo longitudinal prospectivo, de pacientes consecutivos que solicitaron atención especializada en coloproctologÃa en el perÃodo del 1ro. de abril de 2020 al 30 de septiembre de 2021. Se dividieron en dos grupos (afecciones benignas y malignas); a todos se les orientó y trató. La muestra quedó constituida por 151 pacientes que cumplieron con los criterios de selección. Se realizó teleconsulta por teléfono y chat de WhatsApp del especialista que realizó el estudio.
Resultados: La teleconsulta de coloproctologÃa fue efectiva en 143 pacientes (94,7 % de la muestra), con mejorÃa de los sÃntomas y desaparición de estos en las afecciones benignas anales. Las afecciones más frecuentes fueron la enfermedad hemorroidal complicada (69 pacientes: 32 con fluxión y 37 con trombosis hemorroidal), y la fisura anal (65). Se realizó reconsulta a 143 (94,7 %). Se citó para rectoscopÃa a 102 pacientes (67,5 %), que fueron estudiados de forma planificada, y se dio de alta a 95 (62,9 %).
Conclusiones: La teleconsulta fue efectiva durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Permitió el diagnóstico, tratamiento definitivo y seguimiento de afecciones agudas anales; evitó la consulta presencial en momentos de alza de la pandemia; y, en aquellos con afecciones colorrectales, facilitó la planificación de la consulta presencial para corroborar el diagnóstico e indicar el tratamiento.
