Abstract

Introduction: Axillary hyperhidrosis is a common condition characterized by excessive sweating beyond physiological needs, which negatively impacts quality of life. Botulinum toxin has proven to be a safe and effective treatment option. Objective: To evaluate the results of treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis with botulinum toxin type A and its impact on quality of life. Method: Prospective, descriptive and longitudinal study in men and women with axillary hyperhidrosis who attended the "EL FRESNO" clinic in Torreón, Coahuila. The sample was non-probabilistic with a total of 10 patients who received botulinum toxin type A in the period between January and December 2023. Results: The sample consisted of 10 patients. The average age was 33.8 years. Regarding sex, 60% (n = 6) were female. According to personal history, 60% (n=6) denied any history, while 40% (n=4) reported social alcoholism. The pretest final score had a mean of 28.2 with a standard deviation of ±3.8, while the posttest score had a mean of 5.2 with a standard deviation of ±5.4, with a difference of 23 points after application. The Wilcoxon rank test was .005. Conclusion: Botulinum toxin type A infiltration is a treatment that offers good results for primary axillary hyperhidrosis and produces high levels of patient satisfaction.
