Abstract

Quality of nutritional support actively influences the human being’s everyday activities, emotional reactions and afections, as well as the foundations of the cognoscitive proccesses. To our knowledge, there are not uniform criteria regarding nutrition and either the neurosurgical or the neurological patients. Reflections are made on the role of the brain as a metabolic organ and its
relationships with neurotransmitters of nutritional origin. New perspectives are opened on the use of feeding and nutrition
as tools for modulating higher brain functions.
