Afections associated to the pathological synovial plica

Introduction: the pathological synovial plica is one of the pain causes in the knee, it is presented in an isolated way or combined to other intraarticular affections.Objective: to identify the main affections associated to the pathological synovial plica in patients operated by arthroscopy. Materials and Methods: he/she was carried out a study retrospective descriptive to 68 patients with the clinical diagnosis, imaging and arthroscopic of synovial plica in the "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Hospital from January of 2018 to January of 2024. The study population was conformed by all the patients to those that were carried out the resection arthroscopic. Results: the synovial plica showed a bigger frequency in the feminine sex, in ages understood between 40 and 59 years, the occupation of the patients in its majority half technician (80,9%), it stood out the right knee with more percentage (70,6%), associating to the pain like predominant symptom, which was exacerbated during the mobilization of the articulation, being confirmed with the maneuvers of Koshino and Okamoto in its entirety, the medial patellar plica type B was the one of more frequent (41,2%) and you identified the affections related with the pathological synovial plica, when corresponding with more frequency tears of the medial meniscus (63,2%), the partial meniscectomy constituted the procedure arthroscopic more employee and the hemarthrosis the biggest immediate postoperative complication (4,4%). Conclusions: the resection arthroscopic of the synovial plica allowed to identify the association of other intraraticular affections.
