Abstract

Introduction: Low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma is a rare tumor, described by Evans in 1987 as a tumor of apparently benign clinical course and histology, but with aggressive local and distant behavior; it corresponds to 0.7% of all soft tissue tumors.

Objective: To present a patient with myxofibrosarcoma on the dorsal aspect of the left elbow.

Case presentation: 36-year-old male patient, of mixed race, who presented for consultation due to an increase in nodular volume located on the dorsal aspect of the left elbow, painless, mobile, not altering the color of the overlying skin and measuring 4 to 5 cm in diameter with a previous lesion at that site diagnosed as fibroma of the elbow.

Conclusions: Myxofibrosarcoma of the elbow is infrequent, but any patient with nodular enlargement should be suspected of having this type of tumor, regardless of age and location, as occurred in this case.
